I actually bought this laptop refurbished around mid-February. It might as well have been brand new.

I was looking for a sleek, comfortable laptop with high performance and a large screen. This laptop exceeded my expectations. I'll just give a quick rundown of the pros/cons

Pros:
-Brilliant screen display
-Comfortable keyboard
-Physically sturdy; the keyboard is extremely durable and feels well constructed.
-Incredible speed (I have the 6GB ram model)
-Great multitasking power. I have no problem running Firefox, Photoshop, Illustrator, iTunes, etc. at the same time.
-Minimal bloatware
-Lightweight for a 17" laptop.
-Stays cool no matter how hard you push it. Some laptops literally burn your lap from the heat they omit. However, this laptop stays extremely cool. You hardly ever hear the fan unless you are blocking it. Don't do that.

Cons:
-Laptop finish is prone to finger prints. Not a big deal, but it does take some wiping to get them clean.
-Battery life. I get about 2.5-3 hours with brightness all the way up and a few programs running at all times. This is not a big deal for me. This laptop is never more than 20 feet from a charger, however, to some, it may be noteworthy.
-Screen is somewhat reflective of light. Not that bad, but it's just a personal preference of mine to have a non-reflective screen.

Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons.
If you're looking for a solid laptop that can handle moderate gaming, design, internet browsing, etc. for an extremely low price, go with this.

Bought a G770 for my wife several months ago from a certain retail store whose-name-must-not-be-mentioned off of their website at a price that amazed in the in-store staff.

The G770 has done everything that was asked of it. It has a great display, good keyboard, flawless networking, fast processor with the kind of boot speed enhancing software now standard for advanced processors. No problem with the large 750 gb drive that came with it. The configured 4GB of memory performed quite adequately for Windows Home Premium and short of using it for a server or massive video editing should be adequate for what most humans do with a computer. Have thought of upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, but other than Remote Desk into it cannot see why to take the time.

I am mildly concerned about the plastic hinges that couple the cover to the body. But this is not meant for heavy duty travel, but you want a Thinkpad class machine for that. As a desktop replacement it does appear to have Lenovo's touch for quality manufacturing. Also, it has some but not excessive extraneous software. I personally consider Lenovo's own version of file sharing software to be dubious, or any manufacturer's version of the same, and simply don't use it.

Have to question what one review said about 64 bit software. Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit accommodates the vast, vast majority of 32 bit software with no problem. It's a non-problem. Strongly recommend installing Windows 64 bit given the choice. If you don't start with 64 bit software you will not be able to break the 4GB barrier which means that at most your system will have "only" 2 to 3 GB free, the Operating System (Windows) taking the rest. It may not matter at first or ever, but why impose such a limitation when adding memory to a laptop is just about the biggest bang for an ever shrinking cost to implement? There can be some problems with less sophisticated backup software that may not be able to restore 32 bit files to a 64 bit system. Consider this another reason to go with 64 bits from the start. For the average user, the difference will never be noticeable so as said earlier, its a non-problem.

In short this has proven an excellent machine from a high quality company in a field, quite frankly, where flakes abound. I would, however, suggest for any laptop to get a 3 year warranty from wherever you like to purchase such things because laptops, even good ones, are inherently fragile and the ability to move them opens up all kinds of potential risks for harm.
